PLAYING
is your special projects department.
THE POWER OF AN AGENCY.
THE FLEXIBILITY OF A FREELANCER.
THE DEDICATION OF AN IN-HOUSE TEAM.
Who are we?
We’re a collective of dreamers and doers, mostly because we love to play – and play, to us, is the most perfect union of dreams and reality.
Who are you?
Someone with a business problem, question, dream, or hope. Let us play with it until there’s a fantastic solution.
How do we work?
As a collective of freelancers operating within the security and infrastructure of a corporation, we customize your approach and your team the way that best responds to your needs.
Our first step is to understand your problem, question, dream, or hope, then build a custom solution from there.
Occasionally we need just one of these skills, most of the time we need to mix and match, and sometimes we work way beyond these capabilities in order to deliver the best solution.

PLAYING started as a project to reimagine how we work.
Now, it’s a solution to your trickiest problems.
Hi, I’m David Imani – welcome to my little corner of the internet.
Throughout my years of working at agencies, national nonprofits, and buzzy startups, I continued to feel that the work was interesting (most of the time) but the way we did it felt unnatural. I got laid off and freelance projects started flowing in. Eventually, I couldn’t handle all the work, so I started to bring in collaborators who were also freelancers and moonlighters, and the work got stronger and bigger and, honestly, way more fun.
So that’s why PLAYING is a space for dreaming and doing. Not a physical space (yet) but a mental one, reached through questioning, solving, dissolving, and building.
Get a taste of some of the work I’m proud to be part of.
I’ve been very lucky to work on some really fun projects over the years. And also some real duds — but I learned a lot from those.
Scroll through for a peek at a few of them that I’d love to show you.
All of this work was a huge team effort, which is why you’ll see “we” instead of “I”. If you were part of any of these projects, thank you for your collaboration!
As I’m sure you know, many details can’t be shared publicly. But pop over a note if you want more details, and I’ll share what I can :)
